Atagawa Onsen, where the afterglow of time remains.
Nostalgia opens up new sensibilities.
The distant horizon, evocative of eternity, and
the sound of waves echoing in the mountains
nestle against the time of silence.

Beyond the rising steam spreads the sea and sky of Higashi-Izu.
The gentle sound of waves reaching your ears.
Atagawa flourished as a hot spring town in the Showa era.
While retaining traces of that past,
the guest rooms are designed to resonate with both nostalgia and novelty.
Welcome to a special retreat where “memories of the region,” passed down through time,
softly touch your heart.

Japanese Cuisine of “Sea and Time” Reflecting Izu’s Climate and Memories
Layering Izu’s culture and seasonal ingredients onto inherited local flavors.
Our head chef, who honed his skills for years at established hotels,
expresses Japanese cuisine that resonates across time through traditional and innovative techniques.
Accompanying the dishes that generously use seafood
are wines selected by our sommelier and local sake.
The marriage of Japanese cuisine and sake brings out the flavors of Izu even more deeply.
“Atagawa” (Hot River) was named because hot spring water used to
gush out like a river.
It is a geothermal area rare in Japan, where hot water gushes out immediately if you dig the ground.
Legend has it that the source was discovered in the Muromachi period by Ota Dokan, known for building Edo Castle,
when he saw a monkey bathing in the water.
Atagawa Onsen has long been loved as a “medicinal bath”
effective for neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery.
Today, it continues to welcome travelers as a famous hot spring boasting one of Japan’s highest water outputs.

A Space for Play and Relaxation to Encounter the Region’s “Memories”
In addition to the dining area and spa, we feature a lounge bar where you can taste
wines selected by our sommelier and local Shizuoka tea,
a game lounge where you can experience nostalgic analog games,
and a select shop to enjoy local specialties.
From the lobby windows,
you can enjoy a panoramic seascape overlooking Higashi-Izu.
